Smiler

The effervescent Paul Anderson AKA “Smiler” has over 38 years of DJ experience mainly in London and Reading, plus Rome, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Turin, Rimini to name but a few parts of the world where he has graced the decks.

Smiler started collecting music at a young age and prides himself on the vast collection of vinyl that includes Funk, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Soul ( Modern Crossover, Brazilian Sambas), Northern 60’s, Acid Jazz, Dub, Reggae, Ska, 50’s and 60’s R&B and Blues, Indie etc. He is simply a vinyl junkie!

He also hosts a monthly show on Totally Wired Radio, and resident on all of Eddie Piller’s Modcast river boats and club nights.

In Reading he has run Club Rude! ( Ska, Reggae), The Fourth Dimension ( Jazz, Funk, Soul, Brazilian, Hip Hop), plus loads of other nights and was the resident Saturday night DJ at Bukowski’s a then popular town centre bar in the 90’s as well as After Dark club nights. Smiler also ran “Jazz For Moderns” in Soho; also DJ'd frequently at most top London clubs including the 100 Club, Dingwalls and the Electric Ballroom.

To add to his talent, he has written books and is a best selling published author, plus writes sleeve notes for Acid Jazz and other record labels.
